Building The Beach KlubOn May 24 Koru Village will host a ribbon cutting for Cape Hatteras’ first oceanfront beach club and North Carolina’s first oceanfront theatre, The Beach Klub and PapaWack Theatre. The ribbon cutting will be followed by an official Outer Banks Chamber of Commerce Business After Hours. “What a great new addition to Dare County and to the Outer Banks! This facility will offer Hatteras Island a great location for community gatherings, live music, weddings, festivals and celebrations,” said Chamber Vice President of Public Relations Angie Brady-Daniels. The Beach Klub will host its official Grand Opening on May 31, giving residents and guests a taste of what the facility has in store for summer. “The Grand Opening will be a mini version of our weekly Avon Jamboree, offering North Carolina barbeque, drinks, live music by the Doerfel Family band and our house band,” said owner of Koru Village and The Beach Klub Joe Thompson. Located beside the Avon Pier, the Beach Klub has undergone a massive renovation this winter with the addition of The PapaWack Theatre which was designed by Cahoon and Kasten Architects. “After twenty-one years of practice Cahoon and Kasten has designed numerous Hatteras Island projects, but the Beach Klub’ Theatre stands out for two reasons. It will be a bit of a landmark, a much needed major public event venue. And it will also be an opportunity for our firm to contribute in a small way to the recovery and resurgence of Hatteras Island,” said Ben Cahoon of Cahoon and Kasten Architects. The Beach Klub will be open for fitness programming in the morning and then it will transform into an exclusive club for members to enjoy throughout the day. Maureen Sullivan who owns a vacation home in Avon called “Canary Sings” was one of the first homeowners to sign up for the Klub Koru Gold program and is anxiously awaiting The Beach Klub’s grand opening. “I am so excited for my guests to have access to all of the Beach Klub’s amenities and I can’t wait to go to yoga by the beach at the Klub when I am down this summer,” said Sullivan. In the evening, The Beach Klub and PapaWack Theatre will come to life for live music and a variety of events. “The Beach Klub and PapaWack Theatre were built with the intention of creating a venue adorning a multitude of amenities that offer residents and visitors a one-of-a-kind experience,” said owner Joe Thompson.
